Army picture for 2013 Hobby Progress Challenge

Here's a final pic of all 12 months worth of work. Thanks to the guys over at the Independent Characters for putting this whole thing on. There is no way I would have gotten this much done without it :)

Hobby Progress Challenge Done!

Here are my final two entries, twenty five hormagaunts and Ten termagants. It feels awesome being done. There's no way I would have finished this so quickly if not for the deadlines set by the challenge. I had to take a few shortcuts on the bases because I started running out of Snakebite Leather paint. I had Balor Brown which, according to GW, is supposed to be the new version but the colors don't match at all. I'll need to investigate other options like a different GW paint or maybe switch to Vallejo. Thanks to everyone who has followed the project, its been a great motivation. Sorry the pictures have been so overexposed, I'll be investing in a photo booth soon. I'll also try and get a full army shot tonight

Recent Tournament at Mind Games

So no hobby progress update but a bit of good news. I went to a recent tournament on Saturday and ended up getting 3rd place with my nids. It was a tournament of 16 and I was pretty excited since I have never placed before.

My list was:
Winged Hive Tyrant with Twin-Linked Devourers and Hive Commander

2x Tervigons with Crushing Claws, 3 psychic powers, adrenal glands and toxin sacs

10 Termagants with fleshborers

10 Termagants with devourers

2 units of 2 zoanthropes

3 hive guard

25 Hormagaunts

1 Trygon

The most epic moment of the tournament was my tervigons unleashing 14 str 10 ap 2 attacks on a wraithknight, felling it on the 1st turn. A second wraithknight charged the pair and faced the same result. All games were extremely hard fought and I was biting my nails the entire time

Hive Guard Done

I finished another unit for the 2013 Hobby Progress Challenge. My plan to get ahead hasn't worked too well so far since I keep switching back to my imperial fists when I do

February commitment done!

I completed this month's hobby progress challenge. The little guys took longer than expected, partly due to some hobby apathy. I think I will get pics up for the rest of the gaunts so I can start getting them done even though they will be one of my end of the year commitments.

In the meantime here are some more interesting projects I just purchased :)

January Challenge WIP

So here's the start of my January commitment for the hobby progress challenge

Swarmlord base coated

After army painter quick shade

I did see an odd effect. In the pooled area by his front right vent, there is a "webbing effect" that occured after I varnished the model with dull coat. I think it was either too cold when I did it or I didn't let the quickshade dry long enough

After this, I just need to do some highlighting and paint up his base

New attempt at blogging/Joining IC's Hobby Progress Challenge

So, I'm going to give this whole blogging thing another shot. I'm joining the Independent Character's Hobby Progress Challeng and needed to host my own images, so I figure what the heck, I might as well blog my progress as well ;)

I plan on re-working the site's look as well as buying a photo booth to use with my D-SLR. Unfortunately, due to low batteries you will have to deal with a phone camera for the image of my intended painting project for this month.

Edit: Here is a link to my forum thread for anyone interested
